Other Activities

The Newfoundland is well known for its capacity for water work and draught work.

In addition to this we hold regular obedience classes on a Thursday night in Hythe during the winter. This is only open to Newfoundlands so is more tailored to the breed. Generally we work along the lines of the Kennel Club's Good Citizen awards, although we have our own tests and certificates just to keep us on our toes.

Nosework is something that is less often found with Newfoundlands, but they do seem to enjoy it and we have had a go at this a few times.

We have our own obstacle course which we often take to Newfoundland Club events as well as being available to us weekdays in the summer. The obstacles are specially made to be suitable for such large dogs and also to reflect odd things you might come across in real life, like little bridges, gates and logs to jump.
